Viewers can use the free2call.tv website to avoid paying premium rates for their votes. Instead, they listen to a 15-second advert when they place their call. Over 50,000 fans have reportedly used the service this year.

However, the Daily Mail claims that producers are worried that the service could lead to "possible fraud" because it does not have the security that the official voting lines do.

Fans from Ireland, who are not able to use the normal voting system, can support acts using the free2call service. Meanwhile, there are fears that betting syndicates could place multiple votes without broadcasters realising.

ITV has reportedly already held a meeting with Ofcom to discuss the website. Lawyers from the BBC and Channel 4 also attended because of worries that the problem could affect their shows.

Edward Boddington, chief executive of the firm that looks after the show's voting system, said that if free2call affected the show's outcome ITV may have to cancel the vote and refund viewers.

However, free2call owner Mark Hillman said: "We vote on X Factor just the same way that the public do. All we do is sit in the middle."

He added that the service complies with Ofcom and Phonepay Plus, although an Ofcom spokesperson said that it had not approved the service.

Meanwhile, an X Factor spokesperson claimed that less than 1% of votes were made through free2call and said checks were made to make sure the votes were routed into the correct X Factor numbers.

She added: "The integrity of our voting systems is of paramount importance and we are confident there has been no possibilty of free2call votes affecting the overall result."

Lindsay Lohan allegedly refused to pay two bottles of champagne from a Los Angeles bar.
The troubled actress was reportedly furious when she was given a bill for her drinks at The Crown Bar and stunned onlookers with a tantrum when staff insisted she settled her tab for her evening.
A source told America's People magazine: "Lindsay stormed into the kitchen and grabbed two bottles of really expensive champagne. She finished both bottles with a friend. When the bartender gave her a bill, she had a meltdown.
"She was yelling at him and screaming profanities at everyone. The bar insisted she pay, so she had to call a friend with her credit card information."
The star eventually left the nightspot at 2.30am - but was still in tears over the incident.
The source added: "She was crying and wanted to go home. She kept saying 'I don't pay for drinks! This is ridiculous! I'm freaking out!' "
Lindsay - who has previously undergone stints in a rehabilitation clinic for alcohol abuse - has caused increasing concern with her recent behaviour.
Her father Michael Lohan has spoken out, saying he fears she will die if she doesn't get help for her problems.
He said: "I want my daughter off prescription medication. She never needed it in her life... I'm not going to watch my daughter die. Hate me now, but you love me more later because I'm gonna turn her life around."

Ten years after Rove Daily aired in Australian television, the show’s host Rove McManus announced at the start of tonight’s program that his show would not return in 2010. He stated "It's purely my decision. It's not one I've made lightly or flippantly. The timing was right to stop, stand back and see what happens next". The final show finished at 11:11pm

LOS ANGELES - HOLLYWOOD presented its first Oscars of the awards season late Saturday, honouring screen acting legend Lauren Bacall with a statuette for her life's work in film.

'I can't believe it!' Bacall gushed, as she was awarded the Governor's Award at a ceremony that offered a foretaste of Oscar glitter and glamour.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also honored director Roger Corman, cinematographer Gordon Willis and producer John Calley at the ceremony attended by an array of Hollywood luminaries - from George Lucas to Quentin Tarantino.
Bacall, one of the most successful screen sirens of the 1940s and 1950s made her screen debut in the classic film 'To Have and Have Not' in which she played the love interest of real-life future husband Humphrey Bogart, to whom she paid homage in her remarks.
'He gave me a life and changed my life,' she said of the 'Casablanca' screen hero to whom she was married from 1945 until his death in 1957.

She is stunningly pretty, despite very little make-up, with curls of dark hair escaping from a woollen beanie, and her obvious passion for music makes her by turn vivacious, funny - and occasionally wary...

Having Jude Law licking my face for three days solid was a surreal experience.

It was for a scene in 2007's Blueberry Nights. My character had passed out on a table and Jude had to come in and kiss some cream off the corner of my mouth. We did the take over and over again, so he kissed me about 90 times. There are worse ways to spend your day.

Hi everyone. I’m angharad governal (angharad_gov). Once Upon a Time and Long Ago, I used to be active in the Xenaverse. I ran several websites besides my own personal fan fic archive, namely the (infamous) Annals of the Conqueror (AOC) and BLURB: Recommendations of Xenaverse Fan Fiction. Recently, I noticed that the new(er) location of BLURB since I had given it to other webmasters had vanished from the web so I decided to bring an archive copy of the site back online. I hope this is of some help (and joy) to the old and new Xena fen out there. While I’m no longer active in Xena fandom, I do like the idea of keeping parts of this rather important femslash fandom “alive” in one way or another if I’m able to do so. It was transitioned to other owners/webmasters after that date and moved to another location. On 14 Nov 2009, I noticed that the "new" BLURB site was no longer online. For the sake of keeping Xenaverse history accessible and "alive" to those who are now discovering online Xena fandom and the myriad of wonderful things that flourished in its heyday on the web, I have brought BLURB back from the ethereal and transitory thing that is the interwebs. Unfortunately, any content that was added to the site after the transition to the erstwhile other owners is more than likely lost. What is here is what I was able to piece together and salvage of the old site before new ownership had taken place. The majority of links to various stories are probably dead. The One Where the Callers Save the Show From the Host

Due to my inexcusable lack of a professional producer, or even an unpaid intern, my own lackluster scheduling attempts failed to secure a guest for this week's show. And since there will be no F4F on Thanksgiving Thursday, I didn't want to go three weeks without a segment. Therefore, I am throwing this one out to the listeners. There will be no set topic. I will simply ramble on about various femslash-related topics, and I implore listeners to set the show on a better path by calling in to discuss what THEY want to talk about. It doesn't matter to me what the topic is, as long as it's somehow related to femslash. I will follow along and attempt to be a sounding board as best I can. If you want to talk about previous shows, your own work, your friends' work, your new favorite show - the show is your oyster. The only alternative is that I spend 30-60 minutes saying what comes to mind while no one listens. And none of us want that. (Right?)

Just in case anyone is worried, this is not going to be a frequent occurrence, I already have two shows scheduled for December and a third for January.

I hope very much that people will call in Thursday :)

Zachary Levi Turned Down Role in Thor for Chuck



The nerd-spy TV series Chuck faced down cancellation and came out victorious, even adding six more episodes to the thirteen already on order for its third season. Unfortunately, there was one casualty: series star Zachary Levi was forced to turn down an offer to play Fandral, one of the "Warrior's Three," in director Kenneth Branagh's live-action adaptation of the Thor comic book series, set to begin filming in January.

According to USA Weekend, the addition of six episodes caused a scheduling conflict that prevented Levi from accepting the role. Levi said that he had actually been asked to try out for the title role of the God of Thunder, as well, but declined.

I'm tall and in pretty good shape, but I'm not big and girthy like that.

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and Anthony Hopkins as Thor's father, Odin.

"Couples Retreat" Poster In UK Removes Black Couple

Universal changed "Couples Retreat" marketing material for the film's UK release, and removed the black actors from both the poster's photo and the list of stars typed out.

The film, which features four couples who go on vacation together, costars Faizon Love as a divorced man who takes his new girlfriend along, played by Kali Hawk.

The Mail on Sunday reports:

The studio said it regretted causing offence and has abandoned plans to use the revised poster in other countries... A Universal spokesman said the revised advert aimed 'to simplify the poster to actors who are most recognisable in international markets'.

Springsteen referred to the neighboring state several times in the following 30 minutes until E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt whispered in his ear.

A visibly embarrassed Springsteen grinned and said such a mistake was "every front man's nightmare."

The Detroit Free Press says Springsteen rocked the forgiving audience for nearly three hours Friday night with new and old hits including a complete performance of his album "Born to Run."

The Cusp of Greatness:

A New Year's Eve challenge

I mentioned yesterday that small fandoms and minor pairings would have an event of their own, well, this is it. This challenge is exclusively for fandoms that have not earned their own fandom page on P&P or pairings in bigger fandoms that account for less than a third (less than 100 stories in the big 4 fandoms: SVU, Voyager, CSI, Stargate SG-1) of the stories for that fandom on the site.

As an example; Gillian/Ria from Lie To Me, would be an automatic acception, as would Pat/Sheena from Bad Girls. Blake/Doris, from Guiding Light, also squeezes into the challenge, but Jill/Cindy from Women's Murder Club, would not.

With most fandoms and pairings it will be obvious who can and cannot be included, but if you're in any doubt just ask.

Now, onto the nitty-gritty of the challenge.

The challenge is open to stories, videos, graphics and manifestos. Drabbles are not accepted for this particular challenge, so all stories need to be more than 300 words (there is no maximum word count).

Fandoms and pairings that have never before made it onto the archive are more than welcome, so long as they conform to the usual site guidelines (see the Submissions page), in fact, they're downright encouraged. I don't foresee this happening, but if a fandom gains its own fandom page between now and the end of the year, you can still enter it into this challenge, as by then you might have already done all the hard work.

All challenge entries would need to be submitted to me (ralst31@gmail.com) by the 27th of December and have the words: New Year's Challenge in the subject line of the e-mail so I know to put them to one side / jump them passed the queue and include them in the update.

Signing up isn't a necessity, but if you're planning to take part, letting me know in a reply to this post would be appreciated.
